Welcome to our online Hebrew Lessons with Tiaan Nel.  We trust that you will enjoy your learning experience.  The lessons are currently divided into three groups, starting with Hebrew 101 with the Hebrew basics, reading and writing. Hebrew 201 is focused on verbs and grammar.  Hebrew 301 is focussed on the more practical side of the Hebrew language.

Shalom and welcome to Hebrew 101!
In these two sessions Tiaan Nel introduces the Hebrew language in a wonderful way.
Join us as we learn to read and write the 22 consonants and 5 vowel sounds along
with our first fun Hebrew words!
In this session we learn more about the construction of Hebrew words. We also look at methods on how to read words.

We learn special letters, which have been created for foreign sounds which are not originally in the Hebrew language,

phrases to greet one another, and a beautiful Bible verse. Have fun!

Today we will learn more about the verb ‚to be‘ or the absence thereof in Hebrew.
We introduce ourselves, learn how to ask ‚Who are you?‘ along with the manners needed to
finish the introduction. We learn a few more questions and words we need in every
conversation as well as an exciting new Bible verse. Enjoy!

Last week we learnt how to introduce ourselves, how to ask: ‘Who are you?’ or ‘What is this?’
This week we continue to learn easy sentences, question words, a few opposites, a bit of grammar and a new Bible verse.
In this week’s workbook there are also fun writing exercises for you to practice what we have learnt this far.
Have fun!
In this lesson we will continue with easy sentences, question words, a few opposites, counting from 1 to 10 and a new Bible verse. Enjoy!
Now we’re starting to really hit it off! This week we start with revision and then continue with easy sentences, question words, a few opposites, verbs, pronouns and a new Bible verse.
The workbook is filled with exercises where you can practice what you’ve learnt.

Can you believe it? You’ve already completed more than 14 hours of Hebrew! I am very proud of you!

This week I start off by teaching you the word for your excellent work.

You will learn the personal pronouns for ‘he’ and ‘she’, a few easy sentences, some plurals, a few colours and a new Bible verse. Enjoy!

In this lesson we will learn all the personal pronouns, a few opposites, and a new Bible verse. We will also start to look at the pattern of the Hebrew language and the structure of sentences.

Welcome to Hebrew 201! Today you will learn the hidden meaning behind the Hebrew words
for WELCOME. You will learn the verbs ‚to know‘, ‚to understand‘ and ‚to speak‘ as well as

a few other words to help you to speak more and more Hebrew each day. We end off with
a beautiful Psalm and learn something important from David, the writer of this Psalm. Have fun!

Join us again this week for a few new phrases and words, three very important verbs and
learn how to say ‚have / have not‘ or ‚there is / there is not‘.

This week Tiaan chose a Bible verse to encourage you. Maybe you can send
it to your friends in Hebrew to encourage them as well?

In this week’s lesson, we learn very important verbs, which are used daily and dive in further
into the pattern of the Hebrew language. You are doing so well! Isn’t it amazing how your brainhas gotten used to the strange letters and sounds? How you see a word and can actually read it and translate it? From this week on we’re adding more and more nouns in the workbook for you to be able to expand your vocabulary. Have fun!

Today we speak about the days of the week and the months of the year.
We also learn some helpful verbs and at the end of the workbook,
you can revise what you have learnt so far with some fun assignments. Enjoy!

Today we learn the numbers 11 to 100. We continue with some wonderful verbs, the Israeli currency, a Bible verse and we ask the question: ‘How much does this cost?’. Have fun!

Today our focus will be on the root of words. Every Hebrew word has a root and if you can recognize it, you can find connections and understand the deeper meaning of the words quicker.
In the online recording, Tiaan explains how to find the root of the word as well as the importance of it. We also look at three verbs and a wonderful Bible verse.

At the end of the workbook you will find some reading exercises. We are adding an audio recording of these texts to help you with the pronunciation.
The audio recordings were made for you by the children of Jacques and Chanelle, who live in Jerusalem and go to school there.

Today we learn to read the time in Hebrew.

Our focus in this lesson is on words and sentences to use in everyday conversations. In the workbook we’ve added a recipe for Hummus!

This week we revise what we have learnt in the past 17 units and speak about the concept of transliteration. The workbook is full of fun revision exercises.

This week we find ourselves ‚In the classroom‘ and work with words and concepts we have already learnt.

This week we take a stroll across the Jewish market and play games with the words we have already learnt in our previous lessons. I wonder where we will be going next week?

Today we find ourselves in a restaurant where we also learn a new concept called ‚Smichut‘. It is the concept of joining two nouns together (compound nouns). We’ve also added reading exercises in this lesson’s workbook along with two audio files to make sure you pronounce the words correctly. Have fun!

Join us in the office, where we meet different professions and ask ourselves if they work in an office or not.

Today we are in the Zoo! We meet fascinating animals and the Zookeeper. We also continue to write cursive letters.

Along with the workbook you will be able to download animal flash cards as well as an audio file to help you with the pronunciation of this week’s reading text.
The flash cards can be printed and glued together or printed on both sides of one page.

After this lesson you will be able to describe your house and home and some of the appliances in Hebrew. We also take a look at a wonderful new Bible verse.
